“Introduction to Jerusalem”
tour of the Old City–
Our tour begins with a view of the city of
Jerusalem from
the Promenade at the Tayelet.
Here you’ll hear a general overview of
Jerusalem and learn about Derech Avot, the
path of the Patriarchs. Then travel to the
Jewish Quarter
of the Old City and take an in-depth tour.
We’ll explore this wonderful quarter and see
how they rebuilt it keeping the feeling of
antiquity yet moving onto modern times.
We’ll visit such places as the
Hurva, Herodian Mansions,
the Broad Wall,
as well as the
Burnt House.
This tour will focus on First and Second
Temple Jerusalem, and try to understand how
the Temple (the Beit HaMikdash) was the
center of Jewish life. After lunch, the tour
will continue onto the
Kotel,
the western
wall of the Temple mount..
The tour will then exit the Old City and
enter the area known as the
City of David,
where we will review early Biblical history
(Kings David, Solomon, and Hezekiah), and
walk through the famous
Warren Shaft.
If possible, we'll end the day with a
refreshing and wet walk through the water
system of the
Shiloah Water Tunnel (Hezekiah's tunnel)
in the City of David.
Tour J-2
Jerusalem Revisited- Understanding life
during the time of the 2nd Temple
-
Our day begins at the
Model of Jerusalem
during the 2nd Temple period,
located at the Holy Land Hotel. We’ll then
return to the Old City and
Walk the Ramparts
until we get to
Zion Gate (Sha’ar Tzion).
Our first stop will be the
Temple Institute,
which is diligently working to create all
the vessels needed for the Temple (Beit
HaMikdash). Afterwards, we’ll head down to
the
Southern Wall excavations.
Here we’ll visit the new Virtual Temple
exhibit, then explore the excavations which
will help us understand the Beit HaMikdash
and roads leading up to it. Final activity
is to explore the Western Wall Tunnels
(known as the Kotel tunnel tour).

Touring the Gush Etzion
area:
The Etzion
Block, or Gush Etzion as it is known in
Hebrew, is located along the "Path of the
Patriarchs," in the heart of the historic
homeland of the Jewish people. It sits
among the hills and rocks flanking the
Jerusalem-Hebron highway. These hills have
been witness to so much of our history,
ancient and modern.

(Bethlehem);
Gush Etzion Memorial Museum-sound
and light show depicting the modern history
of Gush Etzion;
Derech Avot,
Path of the Patriarch's, - one of the oldest
roads known to us in this land. Located
along this route we will find an ancient
ritual bath (Mikva) dating back to the
period of the 2nd Temple and a
winepress;
Pina Chama-
see how the residents of the Gush provide
food and some TLC to the soldiers of this
area;
Mud Caves-famous
caves located at the foot of Efrat, this was
the aqueduct that brought water to
Jerusalem;
Sadna
- visit a unique program for special needs
children;
Tour of the various communities in the Gush-
Aside from the town of Efrat, there are 15
settlements included
in Gush Etzion, including 3 kibbutzim;
The Judaica Center

Israelites channeled water to irrigate their

The struggle for Independence
–
Observation stop
to review battle for Jerusalem in the War of
Independence; Tank museum at Latrun,
home of many tanks used in Israel’s defense
or by Israel's enemies and captured by
Israel, including a Nazi Tank! Next, travel
to Machon Ayalon
-
a clandestine ammunition factory located in
Rechovot- used to secretly produce bullets
for the Jewish fighters during the British
Mandate; Secret
Burma road
- hear the exciting story how this road
saved Jerusalem! Gush Etzion -
visit the museum at Kfar Etzion
to learn about the brave battle the settlers
and the "35" waged during the War of
Independence.
Tour
J-11
The
Judean Desert:
Travel eastwards into the Judean
Desert to the region of the Dead
Sea, the lowest point on Earth. While
traveling to our destination,
you
will have a magnificent
view of the
Judean desert, the Jordanian mountains, and
Jericho.
We’ll review
the path of Am Yisrael (the Israelites) and
the possible location of Moshe Rabeinu’s
burial site on Har Navo. The tour will
visit such sites as Kumran
where the Dead Sea scrolls
were found; the amazing oasis of Ein
Gedi Nature Reserve where we’ll go
hiking and see waterfalls and pools for
swimming; the Ancient Synagogue of
Ein Gedi; Masada, the last
stronghold of Jewish resistance against the
Romans during the Great Revolt; and of
course.
Next get ready for an unbelievable
experience - floating in the
Dead Sea!
The Dead Sea, one of the wonders of the
world, is so dense with salt that you won’t
sink!

J-12
2 Day
tour of the Negev:
-Day
1:
Visit the Air Force Museum –
an outdoor exhibit of the many planes and
other aircraft used during Israel’s
history; brief visit to the Negev
development town Yerucham;
explore through hiking the Large
Machtash and have a chance to
collect colored sand; continue south to
S'de Boker, Negev home of David
Ben Gurion; end the day with a comfortable
walk through the Avdat gorge.
Overnight in Mitzpe Ramon. Day 2 of the
Negev: : Visit the
natural wonder of Machtash Ramon,
Israel's Grand Canyon. On our return route
we'll stop off at Mitzpe Revivim,
where we'll learn how the pioneers in the
1930's and 40's lived in this barren desert,
isolated from the rest of the "Yeshuv".
Next, have some fun on a camel ride!
Finally, enjoy the Besor nature
reserve and swinging hanging bridge
over the Besor River. Return to Jerusalem.
